Sci­ence and strate­gic planning

This inter­ven­tion­al research is based on con­sul­ta­tions with the many var­ied stake­hold­ers of the PQDS, includ­ing cul­tur­al, com­mu­ni­ty, aca­d­e­m­ic, eco­nom­ic, gov­ern­ment and inter­na­tion­al actors, along with neigh­bour­hood res­i­dents and work­ers. A review of the sci­en­tif­ic and grey lit­er­a­ture is then con­duct­ed on issues iden­ti­fied dur­ing the con­sul­ta­tion process to inform how the PQDS posi­tions itself for the future. For exam­ple, an analy­sis of sci­en­tif­ic lit­er­a­ture on the role of enter­tain­ment dis­tricts around the world helps under­stand the movement’s evo­lu­tion and the posi­tion of Montréal’s dis­tricts with­in that evolution.

The Quarti­er des Spec­ta­cles Part­ner­ship has gained recog­ni­tion in Mon­tréal for its abil­i­ty to take con­cert­ed action. As the orga­ni­za­tion approach­es its 20^th anniver­sary and deals with changes that have occurred in recent years (COVID-19; rene­go­ti­a­tion of its agree­ment with the City of Mon­tréal; the end of major col­lab­o­ra­tive cul­tur­al infra­struc­ture projects), it finds itself at an impor­tanat turn­ing point in its development.
