The impor­tance of the Cité ID Liv­ing Lab, led by Pro­fes­sor Marie-Chris­tine Ther­rien at ENAP, was high­light­ed dur­ing the March 1, 2018 announce­ment of the Ministry’s action plan on flood­ing. The government’s plan is based on an eval­u­a­tion con­duct­ed fol­low­ing the his­toric flood­ing episodes of spring 2017 in the Province of Que­bec. It incor­po­rates results of con­sul­ta­tions with many actors involved in the cri­sis and response. Prac­tice improve­ment is one of the three major com­po­nents of the plan. Mea­sure 23 of the plan is the cre­ation of an incu­ba­tor to pro­mote the emer­gence of new approach­es”. This incu­ba­tor is the Cité-ID Liv­ingLab Urban Resilience Gov­er­nance, with its unprece­dent­ed approach to bring­ing togeth­er city man­agers, pri­vate organ­i­sa­tions, cit­i­zens and aca­d­e­m­ic researchers in col­lab­o­ra­tive endeav­ours. Cité-ID and the Mai­son de l’innovation sociale join forces Cité-ID and the Maison de l’innovation sociale join forces

The Young Project involves tem­po­rary occu­pa­tion of an emp­ty indus­tri­al build­ing in Griffin­town (Young Street) in Mon­tréal, in an ini­tia­tive led by the organ­i­sa­tion Entrem­ise (http://​www​.entrem​ise​.ca/​l​a​b​o​r​a​t​o​i​r​e​t​r​a​n​s​i​t​oire/). The Mai­son de l’innovation sociale, one of the organ­i­sa­tions using this space, asked the Cité-ID Liv­ingLab to over­see the project’s Gov­er­nance stu­dio and pro­vide assis­tance and exper­tise on gov­er­nance issues facd by the mul­ti­ple projects installed in the Young Project. In the col­lab­o­ra­tion, Cité-ID acquires a phys­i­cal space, along with access to many poten­tial field-part­ners who wish to work along­side researchers to devel­op inno­v­a­tive solu­tions. Launch of the Cité-ID LivingLab Launch of the Cité-ID LivingLab

Tues­day, Jan­u­ary 30, 2018, marked the offi­cial launch of the Cité-ID Liv­ingLab in Urban Resilience Gov­er­nance. The event took place at the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP) in Mon­tréal, and was attend­ed by rep­re­sen­ta­tives of pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tor agen­cies and organ­i­sa­tions who will be essen­tial part­ners on Cité-ID projects mov­ing for­ward. Cité-ID activ­i­ties will be coor­di­nat­ed by Marie-Chris­tine Ther­rien, Pro­fes­sor at the ENAP, and sup­port­ed by the Fonds de recher­ché du Québec (FRQ) and the ENAP. Rémi Quiri­on, Québec’s chief sci­ence advi­sor, spoke at the launch, high­light­ing the need for mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary efforts and col­lab­o­ra­tion among actors work­ing to devel­op resilience in Cana­da as well an inter­na­tion­al­ly.
